FIG 5 - Should Foods & Cargoes with GMOs Be Labeled?
All respondents were read,
Consumers and governments around the world are calling for labeling legislation so they know if the foods they and their families eat contains genetically modified ingredients (GMO’s).  Foreign markets and buyers of U.S. corn want cargoes labeled to show the level of GMO corn varieties present.  Should the U.S. Congress require such labeling as a marketing strategy and sales tools to instill consumer confidence and promote global markets for U.S. corn?
Fifty-six percent of respondents stated that we should label GMO corn varieties.  Significant  figures were noted in: Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin, except Colorado.
Thirty-one percent of respondents stated that we should not label GMO corn varieties as a marketing strategy to promote sales in the global market arena. With significantly increased response rates in Colorado and Minnesota.  Thirteen percent stated that they did not know.
